Hello, I'm Ellen!I am an English, Indonesian, law and creative writing tutor. I teach primary school, high school and university students.I'm excited to help you find (or rediscover) your love for learning!

What will our lessons include?

  • Assessment of strengths and weaknesses prior to first lesson in order to personalise your lessons to your individual needs and desires

  • Guidance through exercises, revision, assessments and reflection to build your skills and confidence in your chosen subject

  • Assignment of homework activities to meet your personal learning goals

  • Assistance with school/university assessments or exam preparation

Please note: Each lesson is one-on-one and personalised to your learning needs and desires. Lessons last for one hour and are conducted online. In-person lessons can be held at your home or a suitable public location for a small additional fee.

Why should I choose you as my tutor?

  • I graduated high school with a 99.1 ATAR, achieving 7 band 6/E4 results and placing second in NSW in Indonesian Continuers.

  • I have a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.

  • I have practised as a lawyer in NSW and worked for organisations including the Aboriginal Legal Service, Redfern Legal Centre and the University of Technology Sydney.

  • I am a creative writer and editor who has worked for Allen & Unwin, the Writing & Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University and Sydney Review of Books.

  • I have experience tutoring primary and high-school aged children in English and Mathematics.

  • I have experience running group and one-on-one creative writing and editing workshops with adults of all ages, but particularly young adults aged 18-30, as well as facilitating creative process spaces with high-school children and adults.

I am deeply passionate about learning, not just to achieve certain results but to deepen our understanding of our place within the world around us.I teach from a place of compassion and non-judgement. No matter your current skill or confidence level, I want to help you develop the skills required to think critically and express yourself clearly, allowing you to develop and share your unique ideas.
